Questions to ask before you book a bridal makeup artist
A short checklist covering timing, trials, hair, family bookings and what is in the quote.
Choosing a bridal makeup artist is partly about their work and partly about how the day will run. These are the questions worth asking any artist before you pay an advance.
About the work
Can I see bridal looks similar to mine? Look for work with a similar skin tone, outfit and kind of wedding. Instagram and reviews on independent platforms such as WedMeGood show more than a few polished photographs.
Which products do you use? Professional ranges hold better through long days. If you have an allergy or sensitive skin, ask now.
Do you offer HD or airbrush makeup? If you are curious about either, ask which would suit your skin.
About the day
What time will you arrive, and how long does each look take? The start time should be worked back from your muhurtham or ceremony, not guessed.
Who will be doing my makeup? Some artists work alone, others with a team. Ask who will be there on the day.
Is hairstyling included? Ask whether hair, lashes and draping help are part of the price, or extra.
Can you do my family's makeup too? If mothers, sisters or bridesmaids need makeup, ask how many people can be done before the first photographs.
About the money
Is the price per function or per wedding? Most Kochi artists quote per function.
How is travel charged? For weddings outside the city, ask whether travel is included in the quote.
Is there a trial, and what does it cost? Trials are often paid. They are most useful if you are trying a new style.
What is the advance, and what happens if the date changes? Ask for the cancellation and date-change policy before you pay.
How Makeup by Aisha answers these
Bridal makeup with Makeup by Aisha starts from ₹15,000 per function, including makeup, hairstyling, lashes and lenses. Aisha travels across Kerala, offers paid trials and holds a date once a ₹5,000 advance is paid. The advance is not refundable, but the date can be changed subject to availability. Questions brides ask
What should I ask a bridal makeup artist before booking?
Ask about their bridal portfolio, products, what time they will arrive, who will do your makeup, whether hair and lashes are included, how travel is charged, the trial, the advance and the cancellation policy.
Is a makeup trial worth it?
A trial is worth it if you are trying a new style, unsure between looks, or nervous about how makeup will look on your skin. If you know exactly what you want and love the artist's work, some brides skip it.
